After Extra Innings the Beavers Get Sent Home
The Oregan State Beavers lost a heart breaker to the Baylor Bears on Monday, ending
their campaign for a national title. It took ten innings but the Bears sqeeked past the Beavers by a score of 4-3.
Thanks to a clutch tenth inning RBI by pinch hitter Mike PanKratz and stellar performances
by Baylor second baseman Mike Griffin and left fielder Reid Brees, who went 3-5 at the plate, the Bears are making the
most out of their first College world series appearance in 27 years.
Baylor will be tested on Tuesday as they go up against the top ranked Green wave of
Tulane.

The Longhorns Calmed the Wave
Even top seeded Tulane's best pitcher, Brian Bogusevic, couldn't slow down
the Texas Longhorns as they racked up 12 hits for the game, on their way to a suprising 5-0 blowout.
Bogusevic, who was a first round draft choice for the Houston Astros this year, gave
up two runs in the first inning.
Thanks to some clutch hitting and great defense the Longhorns were able to add three more runs
and secure the win.
Texas got an amazing effort from pitcher Kyle McCulloch who pitched seven shut out
innings, and only gave up six hits while striking out seven batters.

Tuesday's Games:
Nebraska vs. Arizona State
Baylor vs. Tulane
Vols Are First to Recieve Walking Papers
After losing to
Florida on Saturday, the Volunteers hoped to keep their championship dreams alive against Arizona State on Sunday. Unfortunately
for Tennessee, they blew a 2-0 lead late in the game, giving the Sun Devils the victory and leaving nothing for themselves
but a long trip home.
The Volunteers got an early lead when freshman
catcher J.P. Arencibia connected on a solo home run off of Arizona State pitcher Erick Averill. Tennessee added another
run in the fifth thanks to back to back doubles by Alex Suarez and Josh Alley.
ASU began their comeback in the seventh inning
when right fielder Travis Buck sent an RBI single screaming down the first base
line.
Then after back to back singles to open the eighth
inning, ASU third basemen Joey Hooft lifted and RBI double into right field to tie the game at two. The very next batter,
ASU second baseman Stephen Dhaenens, hit an RBI double to give the Sun Devils the lead. And, as if that weren't
enough, ASU center fielder J. Sferra hit a sacrifice fly to give Arizona State a nice two run cushion.
The Sun Devils held off a Tennessee rally
in the bottom of the eight inning and went on to win the game 4-2.
